Bay Week is one of the largest fresh-water events in the United States with boats hailing from all over the Great Lakes and Canada.  This year the 2014 Corsair National Championships and Rendezvous are a part of this Annual Event.

Put-in-Bay Yacht Club – Race Headquarters at PIB

Put-in-Bay Yacht Club, South Bass Island is the site for the Welcoming Party Thursday Night and all Après Race Activities…DAILY Awards,  Beer, Mount Gay Sail RUM Party, Bryan’s Raffle, Live Entertainment and Dancing Every Night! Good Food every night and the ever popular Beer Garden!

A corner of the Big Top is specifically designated for Corsair owners to gather,  meet and greet!

We have all the necessary elements required to put on a great regatta.  We have the world’s greatest venue.  We have the Lake Erie Islands and we have the wind. We have the Weekend Format (Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun) which has proven to be so popular with the Nood Regattas. We will have a Social Package. We have On-line Registration and Yacht Scoring.  The Corsairs race a series of Round-the-Buoys and Round-the-Islands Races.  We will have a Casual Cruising Class for Non-racers and Jib and Main Boats. GLMRA will assign Handicaps for the Corsair Boats.

2014 Corsair Nationals and Rendezvous Schedule of Activities and Bay Week Social Package Thursday through Saturday July 31 – August 2 2014           

The following is a typical schedule:

The Corsair Boats will race a prescribed course from Port Clinton to a finish line at South Bass Island.  If the wind is right, the Race Committee may call for  more races back to back at the east end of the islands.  Afterwards, sail into the harbor at Put-in-Bay where you will  be assigned a Mooring Buoy.  The Boardwalk will supply a Water Taxi for trips to and from your boat.  This is included in your registration!

Join us on Thursday Night for the first night of our 3-day Social Package.  For $40 per person, your Wristband will be Your Ticket to all the Parties and Events:

Welcoming Party at PIBYC with Food by Tony Packos and Beer (All you can drink) – after racing Thursday Night with Live Music by Apple Brown Betty until 10:00pm.

  • DAILY Awards and Beer at PIBYC -after racing on Friday
  • Corsair Marine sponsored Mount Gay Sail RUM Party at the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club – after the Daily Awards on Friday Night.  (All you can drink) and Dancing to the sound of Mr. Show.  Your Crew will be fed with Disbrow’s Signature OH Boy Sandwich, Mac and Cheese.  Wear Your Wrist Band!!
  • Ladies Cocktail Reception –  after racing on Saturday… It’s Tradition!  Meet the Commodore and his Lady.  ( The site of the Ladies Cocktail Reception TBA.)  Cocktails made to order and Hors d’ouvres.  Register for the Ladies Party at PIBYC after 4pm Thursday and Friday.
  • DAILY Awards and Beer at PIBYC – after racing on Saturday…. Wear Your Wrist Band!!
  • Lobster Bisque and Ruck Sandwiches by the Boardwalk and Beer(All you can drink) at PIBYC -after Daily Awards Saturday Night  Wear Your Wrist Band!!  More Music by the Mr. Show until 10:30pm.  Dance, Dance, Dance!
  • Sunday after the Races:  Daily First Awards, Beer Bust and Final Awards at PIBYC.

Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island – Racing and Cruising Destination!!!

As a resort community, Put-in-Bay has been called the “Key West of the North” and “the Playground for Adults.”   South Bass Island offers plenty to do for the whole Family….shopping, dining, sightseeing, or choosing from the many types of outdoor recreation.  Climb to the top of Perry’s Monument where you will gain a Bird’s eye view of the Lake Erie Islands and Canada.  Landlubbers can tour the island by bike, golf cart or tour train.  The adventurous can try parasailing or kayaking.  The kids may want to try mining for gems at Perry’s Cave or exploring the inside of the World’s Largest Geode at Crystal Cave.

For the Adults, there are Wineries, Breweries and the World’s Longest Bar with entertainment offered all day and into the night.

Come for the Regatta.  Stay for the week!  The South Bass Island has accommodations at all price points with 400-500 hotel rooms, B&B’s, condos, and cottages.  Or enjoy the sunset from your lovely wooded State Park campsite overlooking the lake.  Save some bucks, stay on your boat.

Lake Erie Islands – A Great Cruising Destination 

Casual Cruising Class – We will have a Cruising Class for Non-racers and Jib & Main Boats.  Cruisers will have a separate start and finish line with a starting window for a no – pressure start.  Cruisers will sail one Round-the-Islands Course each day.  They will enjoy same Social Package, Parties and Activities as the racing fleet.

The Cruising Fleet will have the option to race each day, or explore the nearby Lake Erie Islands.   Explore Middle Bass Island just across the channel.  Take a day sail to Kelley’s Island.  Anchor off the beach.  Hike the Natures Trails ….enjoy the flora and fauna.  Explore the Glacial Grooves.  Explore the local pubs or wineries.  But don’t be late for the scheduled parties!!

After the regatta, take a cruise on your Corsair to the nearby Pelee Island or Leamington, Canada.(Bring you Passport!)  Or take a short cruise to Cedar Point Marina to enjoy the Roller Coast!  We’ve got it all!

If you don’t ever race any other regatta, this is the one for you!
